Nari Gunjan NGO Visit

As part of our efforts to spread joy and happiness, the Ratnalaya Charitable Trust recently visited the Sudha Varghese Ma’am Trust. The trust was located in a small village, and the children there had limited access to resources and activities. As the team entered the trust, they were greeted with smiles and warm welcomes from the children and the staff. The Sudha Varghese Ma’am Trust is a charitable organization that takes care of underprivileged children and helps provide them with food, shelter, and education. We were delighted to visit the trust and bring a smile to the faces of the children.

Sudha Varghese, also known as Sister Sudha, is a social worker and Catholic nun in India who has devoted herself to the Musahar, the Dalit of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, one of the Scheduled Castes and who are considered the “untouchables”. She resides and works in Jamsaut, a village in the Patna district.
She is the chief executive officer of Nari Gunjan “woman’s voice”, a not-for-profit organization that provides education, literacy, vocational training, healthcare, advocacy, and life skills for Dalit girls and women in Bihar. Nari Gunjan has 50 facilities with an overall enrolment of 1500 girls. Varghese has stated that she draws inspiration from B. R. Ambedkar, a Dalit who fought against the concept of untouchability and was one of the drafters of the Constitution of India.

The day started with some games and activities that were designed to be both entertaining and educational. We organized a game of musical chairs, where the children had to dance around a circle of chairs and quickly find a seat when the music stopped. This game not only brought a lot of laughter but also helped the children improve their coordination and agility. The children were very enthusiastic about the competition, and we were amazed by the creativity and talent they displayed.

After the activities, we distributed snacks and refreshments to the children. We provided them with biscuits, fruit juice, and chocolates. It was wonderful to see the children relishing the snacks with big smiles on their faces.

Our visit to the Sudha Varghese Ma’am Trust was a great success. We were happy to have spent some quality time with the children, and we believe that our visit brought them a lot of joy and happiness. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the community in this way, and we look forward to organizing more such events in the future
